Building an Effective Team
Opportunity: Globalegacy is a London-based company with extremely high aspirations: to create long-term social and economic growth through commercial ventures with deprived urban communities. They are an alliance of corporations, NGOs, communities and individuals, who believe that through collective leadership, they can change the world for the better.
Throughout the company's development stages, Globalegacy Founder Craig Cohon developed and held the company's mission and vision. However, in order to raise the necessary capital for its investment funds, Craig needed to expand his team from one to 20 to drive the company from planning to implementation phase. The group had an ambitious work plan over a short three-month period. Craig knew in order to get the most of his team, they had to enroll in and further evolve his vision for the company; develop the values that would guide the company; and work together like an Olympic crew team that had dedicated themselves to the race.
Solution: IntraVision designed a team-building session for the team's first three days together, to enhance the team's capability to:
- Behave as an interdependent team, collectively responsible for Globalegacy's success
- Have productive dialogue around complex issues
- Become aware of their individual and collective beliefs that could hinder or help them achieve the results they wanted
- Create a personal and shared vision for their lives and business
- Develop shared values for the team and organization
"Our company is on track to achieving the aggressive goals we set for ourselves, in large part because of our dedication to building our team from our first days together."
- Craig Cohon, Founder, Globalegacy
